Meaning |
Zakaat |
Zakaat is one of the five pillars of Islam and a means to cleanse one’s wealth. Zakah has to be given to the needy. |
Lillah |
Lillah comprises any form of charity given on a pure voluntary basis to the needy. |
Sadaqah |
Donations that are large or small and towards any good cause are considered Sadaqah. Sadaqah is any amount of money donated and intended for the poor. |
Qurbani |
Muslims rejoice each year for the festival of Eid ul Adha. The festival is marked by the sacrifice (i.e., Qurbani) of an animal, usually a sheep, goat, or cow with a significant portion given to the poor. |
Fitrana |
Sadaqat-ul-Fitr is an obligatory charity given to the poor for every Muslim who possesses a significant amount of wealth); it must be paid before Eid-ul-Fitr (i.e., before the end of Ramadan). |
