A similar treatment of males with 25 mM EMS causes about 7% lethality and induces mutations in the white at a frequency of about 1/1000 chromosomes, which served as a positive control. A similar treatment of males with 1% sucrose solution together with 4mM ZnCl2 causes ~0.5 % lethality and does not induce any mutations.
