Enlargement of the nasal lining with rhinitis can alter laminar airflow. Normal mandibular rotation is expected to direct the tongue forward through muscle attachment at the genial tubercles (internal surface of the mandibular symphysis). Cranial rotation serves to direct the velum forward in coordination with differential SOS growth.
