First round PCR primers were as follows:

Pro1: 5’-CAGAGCCAACAGCCCCACCA-3’ (forward) and

BC21: 5’-CTGTATTTCAGCTATCAAGTCTTTTGATGGG-3’ (reverse).

Second round PCR primers included:

M13_Pol1: 5’-GTTAAACAATGGCCATTGACAG-3’ (forward) and

BC20: 5’-CTGCCAATTCTAATTCTGCTTC-3’ (reverse), for amplifying an 849 bp reverse transcriptase gene (RT), spanning codons 21 - 304.
