AII and HepSV40 were incubated with L. monocytogenes infection (strains EGD or Δhly) in RPMI 1640 suplemented with 10 % fetal calf serum (complete medium; CM) for 1 h. After removing their culture supernatants, the LPC lines were washed 3 times with CM containing 10 µg/ml of gentamicin to kill extracellular L. monocytogenes infection. Immediately after washing with CM, a portion of cells were plated on tryptic soy agar plate after sonication, and the CFU in LPC were enumerated by plate counts after 48 h incubation.
